gifts for travellers

I know you hate me for bringing it up, but Christmas is around the corner which means you need to know what to gifts for travellers are on the market this year. I know a lot of people who love to travel and so I’m always excited to share new and fun things that make travelling so much easier. Plus it’s also my secret way of creating my own Christmas list (take note friends and family).

While I always preach that prefer experiences than things, I think you’ll find a happy mix between the two in this list. Plus, there’s nothing better than seeing the look on someone’s face when they open up their gift and it’s something they genuinely want.

So without keeping you in suspense any longer, here is the list of what I think are the best gifts for travellers this Christmas season:

Tinggly

If you haven’t heard of Tinggly you’re seriously missing out. This gift definitely tops my list as it’s the best of both worlds. You’ll have something for the person to open, as the ‘gift’ comes in a beautiful box with information about the gift inside AND you’re actually giving a gift.

How does it work? Based on the budget you have, you can choose what category of experiences you’re gifting your traveller. On our most recent trip to England, we tried their Best in the World collection. Essentially, the person is given a code and they have to go onto the site and they get to choose which experience they want. It’s amazing. You can literally choose experiences from all over the world.

As a lover of all things British, I chose the experience where we got to tour Shakespeare’s globe and get spoiled with Afternoon Tea afterwards. I took my sister with me for the experience and we felt so posh. Sitting in Swan’s restaurant on the top floor we were given sparkling wine, amazing finger foods and delicious tea. All while looking out onto the River Thames and St. Paul’s cathedral. I mean seriously, does it get better than that?

The gifts are valid up to 5 years so it doesn’t mean that the person you give it to has to have a trip booked right away. Although let’s be honest, if you’re giving this gift to an avid traveller they will for sure have something already booked!

Sudio

This may not sound like an obvious option for travellers but hear me out. You all know that I love to workout and run while I’m on vacation (some of you think I’m crazy I know) and wireless headphones completely changed how I work out. Not only that, they made my plane experiences SO much better.

The Sudio headphones are perfect because they help to block out the background noise of wherever you are. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been on a plane and I’ve just put my Regent headphones on and completely tuned out everything around me.

Working out is also easier because I don’t have to worry about annoying wires or working out with clothes with pockets. I can have my phone literally anywhere and still be able to listen to music. It’s especially useful when I’m working out with the Nike Training Club app and I need to see what the workouts are but also want to listen to music at the same time.

I promise you, whoever you get these for will love you for it. Plus they are completely reasonable in pricing when you compare them to Beats headphones. Why pay for the overhyped brand name when you can get something as good (if not better) quality for cheaper?

A Gimbal

I just got one of these before our trip to Malta and Ireland and I can honestly say I’m already obsessed. While most travellers love to take photos while they’re away, video is quickly becoming the next biggest thing. It’s so easy to put together a quick video from your latest trip to share on social media for your friends and family.

The problem I was having is that all of my videos were turning out super shaky. Please take a look at my Youtube video if you want to find out how bad. I finally bit the bullet and bought myself a Gimbal and I promise you it was the best decision ever.

Not only are my photos super stable now but it’s so compact and really easy to travel with. I mean common you can save room in your luggage for a device the same size as a pair of shoes right?

iPhone lenses

I’m not really sure why I never discovered this before but only recently did I find out about the magical world of iPhone lenses and it blew my mind. There are so many companies out there that create lenses that you can just add onto your iPhone.

This is the best for travellers that don’t necessarily want to lug around a camera at all times. I’ll admit while I do love my OM-D E Mark 10, it can sometimes be a bit cumbersome carrying around another device. Having iPhone lenses allows you to get better quality photos and photos of various types as well.

I purchased a relatively cheap pair of iPhone lenses from Amazon for about $40 and it came with a fisheye lens and a wide angle lens as well. You just can’t get that same kind of footage through your normal iPhone. It was amazing. Plus for $40 it could make the perfect stocking stuffer as well.

Portable Charger

Another perfect gift for someone constantly on the go or someone constantly on Instagram is a portable charger. I’m always running out of battery whenever I travel. It’s actually quite annoying because when I’m abroad I’ll usually carry around not only my charger but an adapter plug for wherever I happen to be in the world.

I’ve had a few of these in my time but I’m a pretty forgetful person so I often find that I lose them on occasion as well. You can buy them from Amazon and they really aren’t that expensive (hello another stocking stuffer).

Do your research though because like most technology, some are much better qualities than others!

So there you have it, the roundup of the top 3 gifts I’m gunning for this Christmas. Well, except the Gimbal because I have one of those but common can you ever have enough gear? I think not.
