The more I travel, the more I realize I prefer trips in nature where I can hike and spend lots of time outside. Our trip to the Peak District National Park was just that. An amazingly beautiful destination located in central England, it’s a must-visit. It almost rivaled the Cotswolds for me as my favourite spot in England.

You will need a car in order to truly see the destination but it’s worth the risk of driving on the other side of the road! Make sure to map out where you want to go and what you want to see before venturing out on your trip. The Peak District National Park is over 550 square miles so as you can imagine there is a lot to see!

One of our favourite spots was hiking along Mam Tor. Every bit of the trail that we wandered had gorgeous views, and we only did one-quarter of the trail. The beautiful stone path, brings you up to the top of the mountain and then winds along. The day we visited it happened to be really foggy in the beginning and it ended up clearing by the end of the hike. Even with the fog through the views were beautiful.

If you’re interested in visiting some of the small and quaint towns in the area than you should add Castleton and Tideswel to your list. Castleton is located just below Minats Pass so you can check off two birds with one stone. Wander through Castleton and have a bite to eat at one of their proper English pubs.

There are lots of different places to stay but my suggestion would be to look for unique Airbnbs. There are some really cute tiny homes in the area. We stayed at an absolutely gorgeous Airbnb called the Sheepfold. It was so cute and super cozy for the cold and rainy October nights.
