beauty products I travel with

When it comes to beauty products I travel with I always say less is more. I don’t want to be lugging around a giant bag filled with random stuff I’m only going to be using once or twice on the trip. I may be getting older but really, my face can handle one missed facial scrub.

The one problem I almost always face is that I travel exclusively with carry-on luggage now. That means I have very little room in my bags to bring the things I need for a vacation. I have to be extremely picky and exclusive.

Whenever I buy beauty products I will try and search for a smaller size for travel. It sounds like a bit much but it honestly saves me so much stress before a trip trying to go out and buy new items just a trip. This way, I always have them with me.

Make-up Wipes

This is an absolute must for me no matter where I go. Whoever invented make-up wipes is honestly a hero. I actually use wipes almost exclusively when I’m at home as well. Ever since I got my laser eye surgery done, my eyes have become super sensitive and washing my face is really uncomfortable.

I’ve tried lots of different wipes but my favourite is the Neutogena All-in-one Make-up wipe. The best part is you can buy them in individual packs which make it super easy to travel with. I keep one with me in my bag so I can get refreshed before landing after a long flight. Believe me, it’s a life saver.

Makeup setting spray

At the risk of sounding like a diva, this sh*t saves my life. When I’m traveling I’m out all day. Like literally ALL day. I don’t stop. I would certainly never stop exploring a new destination just to go back and reapply my makeup either which is why the setting spray is amazing.

I spritz my face before going out in the morning and my makeup will last all day. It’s like a miracle or, hairspray for your face. I often use it before going to work too because God knows I look like a hot mess most days getting home from work. The setting spray from Sephora also comes in a travel size version which is unreal. I use the Ubran Decay one but there are tons of other options.

Hydrating lotion

I swear, it doesn’t matter whether I’m going on a hot vacation or a cold one – my skin always gets dry. It’s such an uncomfortable feeling walking around with dry skin. That often leads to dry lips and it’s just a whole mess, I’m sure I don’t need to get into the details, you get it.

Now, being the adult that I am, I’ve started to carry around moisturizing lotion or some potion or lotion that will get the job done. I’ve recently discovered the Aveeno MaxGlow products and am in love. The products in this line are infused with Soy and Kiwi making you naturally glow. My favourite are the Infusion Drops which give you 48-hours of moisture.

Sunscreen

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my old age it’s that skin protection is uber important. I’ve been burned an embarrassing amount of times and never want it to happen again. It honestly doesn’t matter what climate I’m traveling to, there’s going to be a likelihood of sun which means sunblock for me!

If I’m visiting a cooler climate or traveling over Christmas I’ll usually just take a moisturizer that has SPF built into it. For sun destinations I generally go with a more advanced sunscreen.

During our trip to Miami we ran out of sunblock and had to do an emergency stop at one of the grocery stores down there. For the first time basically ever I splurged on a higher-end sunblock and I’ll never go back. It didn’t leave me smelling weird or sticky – that should be enough to sell you. The Neutrogena Ultra Sheer line is one of my favourites now.

There you have it, my favourite beauty essentials to always travel with.
