Texas is the land of everything ginormous. While I haven’t actually traveled to this beloved state, I assure you, it is very high on my list of places to visit. What’s not to love about iconic cities like Houston and Austin? With great music, better food, and the best hospitality (from what I’ve been told) in the United States, I find it rather hard to turn down a trip south if given the opportunity.

Flights to Texas from Toronto are still pretty expensive though which is what’s keeping me from going. No matter, once I find a great deal I’ll be sure to head down!

As readers of my blog may already know, I make lists about everything, like trips I’ll be taking in the near future, hotels where I would love to stay, or even tours I would love to take at various destinations. This post is a list of Texas hotels that I’ve discovered and think noteworthy for one reason or another.

El Paso

Camino Real Hotel El Paso  is quite misleading from the outside. It looks like your standard run-of-the-mill hotel found in any city around the world. However, once you get a glance at the inside you know why I’ve listed this property. The entire property looks so elegant and quaint on the inside.

Austin

With Hilton Austin Airport it’s always good to know decent hotels near airports. Because I usually book the cheapest flights possible, I’m often arriving or leaving cities at random (and often less than ideal) times. The hotel is pretty standard for a Hilton but quite reasonably priced which is why it made this list. I’m a big fan of Hilton because you generally know what you’re getting with them.

Crowne Plaza Austin is another Austin hotel because… why not? This hotel is actually located close to the airport and downtown, and that makes it ideal. The rooms are very spacious, which is never a bad thing in my opinion. The biggest perk of this hotel is the free shuttles within a 5-mile radius of the hotel. How awesome is that!

Hampton Inn & Suites Austin  would be my choice for staying right downtown in this iconic city. Every room has a king bed. Yup, you read that right. Plus it even has complimentary breakfast! I would have to say this place is an all around win. The prices are a little higher than I would normally pay, but honestly, if breakfast is included and I get a great night sleep, I would probably push my budget a bit.

Houston

Hilton Houston, yup, another Hilton. After all, they are world-famous for a reason. This hotel is located right downtown in Houston and close to the baseball diamond and basketball arena. Location is everything when it comes to travel. I hate wasting time trekking back and forth from a hotel to major attractions, so I try to avoid that as much as possible. This hotel would be a great solution.

What about you? Have you traveled to Texas and stayed somewhere great?
